The Ridings’ Federation of Academies today proudly announced the future direction of its post-16 provision.
Following on from a successful set of examination results this summer, a sixth form review considered numerous factors including the needs of local students, the high quality teaching available, specialist facilities within the new Academy buildings, labour market trends and government changes to both curriculum and funding.
From September 2014 The Ridings’ Federation Sixth Form will be structured to reflect the specialisms of each campus.
The Sixth Form at Yate Academy will establish itself as a ‘Vocational Centre of Excellence’and focus on courses suited to employment pathways such as Hair and Media Makeup, Travel and Tourism, Sport and Forensic Science. This maximizes the use of its £16million facilities including Hair&Beauty Salon, Science Lab, Dance Studio, and Darkroom.
The Sixth Form at Winterbourne International Academy will deliver all A-Level courses and the International Baccalaureate as an ‘Academic Centre of Excellence’ . Winterbourne will have a £19million new build open by the next academic year and already has the highest percentage of Key Stage 5 students achieving 3 or more A Levels of all state schools and colleges in South Gloucestershire and Bristol.
